World Congress 2002

The 2nd World Congress took place in Melbourne, Australia on 24-27 March 2002 and was hosted by TAFE Directors Australia (TDA). This congress was supported by:

  • The Government of Australia
  • The Australian National Training Authority (ANTA)
  • The Government of the State of Victoria
  • The Office of Post Compulsory Education Training and Employment, Victoria
  • The World Federation of Associations of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFACP)
  • Private and public sponsors

The objectives of the 2nd World Congress were:

  • To report to the member associations the progress made on the resolutions of the preceeding Congress and the achievements of the Federation in support of its membership
  • To develop recommendations to inform the programming and conduct of member associations for the subsequent (24 month) period. This was done by running workshops, network groups and plenary sessions
  • To create a forum for sharing the most recent policies, programmes, practices and products in the development of institutes/colleges as institutions and in their contribution to national human resources development strategies
  • To create opportunities for participants to learn, share and expand their network of colleagues in the international college community
  • To enable participants to develop a more detailed understanding of the policies, programmes, practices and products of the host association’s member country
  • To generally assist in promoting the concept of institutes, colleges and polytechnics as important contributors to national economic development as well as to social mobility and the development and support of culture.
