World Congress of Colleges and Polytechnics 2005


The World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics is pleased to announce that the 3rd Congress of Colleges and Polytechnics will be held in Dubai - United Arab Emirates, in association with the Higher Colleges of Technology, on 8th and 9th March 2005.

All over the world community, technical and further education colleges and polytechnics educate and train millions of people to become highly skilled employees and successful entrepreneurs to meet the needs of an ever-changing world. It is the work of these important institutions will drive economic progress in the future. The college and polytechnic sector is crucial in transforming the lives of individuals and through them, communities, regions, and countries throughout the world.

The future of the college and polytechnic sector lies in the hands of its leaders as well as government officials and policy makers. The purpose of the 3rd World Congress is to bring these leaders as well as officials and policy makers from every continent together to consider six key aspects of our sector. These are: (1) Entrepreneurship, (2) Partnership (3) Diversity (4) Skills & innovation (5) Economic Development and (6) Leadership.

The Board of the World Federation is planning to use the Congress as an opportunity to formally expand an international network of colleges and polytechnics with direct membership by colleges. This network will provide a framework for ongoing dialogue and search for synergies on the six themes of the congress as well as other key issues facing our institutions as they prepare the workforce of tomorrow.
