World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics

Message from the Chair

Welcome to the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics web page.

The World Federation began life at the 1st World Congress of Colleges & Polytechnics which was held in Quebec City in 1999. At that time the membership was confined to national or regional associations of colleges and polytechnics. This membership is currently represented by the Board of the Federation.

Subsequent Congresses were held in Melbourne (2003) and Dubai (2005) and during that period the Board of the Federation worked towards refocusing the federation towards being a federation of colleges.

Colleges and polytechnics around the world change the lives of millions of people day by day, one by one by providing those millions with essential vocational skills. The effect of that learning and the transfer of skills and knowledge goes far beyond the individual learners, it has a profound impact on national and regional economies.

Our sector has a great story to tell and that story must be told both within countries and trans-nationally. A vibrant international network of colleges and polytechnics can tell that story, and must tell that story.

In addition to providing an international voice for our sector, a global federation of colleges and polytechnics can provide an invaluable network of colleges which have so much to share with each other.

Welcome to this web page. I hope that it will provide you with sufficient information to persuade you to join this new network of colleges and polytechnics. The success of this venture depends on the active involvement of colleges and polytechnics worldwide.
